Software Engineer, Operational Tools

Zoox is hiring software engineers to build the tools that power our autonomous ride-hailing service. The Operational Tools team plays a critical role in bringing Zoox’s vision of autonomous mobility to life. Our Operational Tools enable the safe, reliable, and scalable operation of Zoox’s growing fleet of autonomous robotaxis. As a member of the team, you’ll work closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and remote operators to develop full-stack web applications that support fleet monitoring and operations at scale. You’ll also help build in-vehicle visualization systems and real-time rider support tools that directly shape the customer experience. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex, cross-functional problems, working across domains, and building innovative systems with visible, real-world impact. In this role you will: • Design and implement highly scalable and reliable web applications to support Zoox's autonomous robotaxi service under the supervision of more senior engineers • Collaborate with software engineering teams, PMs, designers to build new features. • Collaborate with experienced engineers to enhance existing software systems by optimizing latency, CPU/memory usage, and database queries. • Have the chance to grow into a Senior Engineer with the support of your manager, mentor and team members. Qualifications: • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, plus 3+ years of professional software development experience. • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, or Python. • Experience building applications with modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Vue, Svelte) and/or backend web frameworks (e.g. Flask, FastAPI). • Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and user experiences. Bonus Qualifications: • Proficiency in a low-level language such as Java, Kotlin, C, C++, or Rust. • Familiarity with low-level Linux system protocols, firmware, and ECUs. • Experience developing tools that support operations.
